RAN Online is a MMORPG (a Massively multiplayer online role-playing game). If you ever played MU or Cabal you will for sure enjoy Ran Online. You should register on the game homepage to obtain a password and after that you may play the game.
The idea of this game is based on several Japanese manga in which some students fight for school control and fame. Although it is inspired by Japanese manga, it is developed by Min Communications in Korea. At first, you have to choose your character (student). The characters are classified by three attributes: intelligence, dexterity and power or strength. The intelligence characters are focused on spells but are poor in defense; the dexterity characters are extremely fast killers, but with low power (a kind of rogues from World of Warcraft) and last but not least the power characters have great attack power. These three character types can be customized in six races.
Races are classified as following: archer, bowler, gunner, extreme, shaman and swordsman. The swordsman is a character, which uses a deadly sword; its damage and attack power are impressive, but it comes with very low defense. Archers are using high range weapons like bows, but they lack attack power. Gunners use guns as their main weapon, and they have the ability to summon mobs: this skill is very helpful in a big battle. Shamans are just spell casters, low on dealing damage, but great at healing other characters. And last, the extremes can use any kind of weapon.
You should try the "extreme" race. It is easy to control and will make a great warrior out of you.
The Ran universe is huge, but you will not be alone at any moment, as in every corner you will find an ally player or an enemy. A useful option is that you can buy weapons, health bottles, accessories, etc. from the website. Those items can be bought with cards won in the game or with real money. In a battle between schools, only the skill and gear items will make you the last standing character.
The graphics are good for a 2006 game, pretty much reminding of the Mu game, but with some pluses like more detailed character and weapons. The gameplay is ok, but after a couple of days you will get bored, because all you have to do is hack and slash all day long. All in one, it's a decent MMORPG game that will steal some days of playing from you. |
